
Counter-Strike Major Update: New Maps, Anti-Cheat & Gameplay Changes - April 24, 2002
The April 24, 2002 Counter-Strike patch introduced significant gameplay improvements and new content. Here's what changed:
Major Additions:
- Enhanced anti-cheat protection
- New maps: cs_havana and de_chateau
- Updated de_train with improved brightness and shootable train hitches
- Improved HLTV interface and spectator features
- Added first-person spectator mode
Gameplay Changes:
- Players must now stand still while planting the bomb
- No movement or shooting while defusing
- Dead bodies remain for entire round
- Dropped bomb blinks red on Terrorist radar
- Only Terrorists notified of bomb status
- VIP can't drop weapons
- Adjusted pistol accuracy while jumping
- Reduced bunny hopping effectiveness
- Muted players' text messages are now also hidden

- cl_corpsestay: Sets body despawn timer (default: 600s)
- cl_righthand: Toggles viewmodel hand
- cl_minmodels: Enables minimal model set
